At Scissortail Orthodontics, we believe strong communities are built when we lift each other up — especially our most vulnerable. That’s why we’re proud to shine this month’s Community Spotlight on a remarkable organization right here in Edmond that’s doing life-changing work: Anna’s House Foundation.

A Safe Haven for Oklahoma’s Children

Anna’s House Foundation (AHF) is a faith-based foster care agency whose mission is simple yet profound: to provide immediate, stable, and loving homes for Oklahoma children in state custody. Rooted in Christian values and wrapped in community support, Anna’s House has become a beacon of hope for children and families in crisis.

Located right here in Edmond, AHF goes beyond placement — they equip foster families with ongoing support, training, and resources, empowering them to provide long-term stability in a nurturing home environment. Their work is not just about meeting needs — it’s about restoring dignity, healing trauma, and rewriting stories.

Nonprofit of the Year

This commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. Anna’s House Foundation was recently named Nonprofit of the Year by the Edmond Chamber of Commerce — a well-deserved recognition for their unwavering dedication to Oklahoma’s foster children and the families who care for them.

Helping Kids Find Their Voice Through Reading

For many children entering foster care, the trauma they’ve experienced is compounded by educational neglect. In response, Anna’s House launched an innovative Reading Program in 2024 — a one-on-one coaching initiative in partnership with First Focus Tutoring.

The results speak volumes: children ages 5 to 12 who entered the program without knowing all their letters and sounds are now reading confidently and catching up to grade level — thanks to encouragement, consistency, and a whole lot of love.

Meet Britley Little: A Force for Good

One of the driving forces behind AHF’s momentum is Britley Little, the Director of Community Engagement. A UCO grad with a degree in Family Life Education, Britley has been with AHF since 2018 and is known for her passion, energy, and creative vision. She recently launched the organization’s first Young Professionals Board, helping to cultivate a new generation of foster care advocates.

How They Raise Awareness

Anna’s House doesn’t just care for kids — they advocate, educate, and build bridges through:

  • Community events and speaking engagements
  • Social media campaigns (especially during National Foster Care Month)
  • Partnerships with churches, schools, and civic groups
  • Foster family testimonials and newsletters

Their mission thrives because people like you step in to help — through time, donations, prayers, or simply sharing their story.

The Challenges Are Real — And So Is the Hope

The path isn’t easy. AHF faces a shortage of certified foster families, limited funding, and the emotional toll that caregiving can take on foster parents. Yet, they remain hopeful — because they know the community cares.

And we do.

How You Can Help

If you’re looking for a way to support foster children in Oklahoma, consider connecting with Anna’s House Foundation. Whether it’s becoming a foster parent, attending an event, or simply spreading the word — every bit matters.
